Jesus: The Complete Story
The Discovery Channel/BBC

This three-hour documentary utilizes the latest scientific research to introduce new facts and theories that both back up and challenge common beliefs about his life and death. Travel back to the Jerusalem, Bethlehem and Nazareth that Jesus himself would have known -- cities re-created through breathtaking computer graphic imaging and the insight gained from the latest archaeological finds, forensics and art studies. This dcoumentary also examines the main events in Jesus' life, including his birth, the nativity, the Star of Bethlehem, his crucifixion and his resurrection -- all based on the extensive research of historians, archaeologists and biblical scholars from around the world, who paint a sometimes surprising picture of the man, his motivations and his life.

Beliefnet & ABC's "The Search for Jesus"

ABC News, which produced the Peter Jennings' special "The Search for Jesus", and Beliefnet have joined forced to create a very informative website that is organized around the six aspects of Jesus' life that have generated the most controversy: Birth, Appearance, Politics, Miracles & Parables, Trial & Crucifixion, and Resurrection. This important website offers dozens of articles and commentary from scholars and writers representing a wide variety of viewpoints -- including those who disagree with the premise of the show. The website also offers a collection of web resources and suggested books.

Frontline's "From Jesus To Christ"

This Frontiline series is an intellectual and visual guide to the new and controversial historical evidence which challenges familiar assumptions about the life of Jesus and the epic rise of Christianity. This site is anchored by the testimony of New Testament theologians, archaeologists and historians who serve as both critics and storytellers. They address dozens of key issues, disagreements and critical problems relating to Jesus' life and the evolution of Christianity. Throughout the site, maps, charts, ancient texts, pictures of the archaeological discoveries, ancient imagery, and audio excerpts from the television program complement and illuminate the scholars' commentary. A new addition to this site is the edited transcript of a two-day symposium at Harvard University. This symposium was a follow-up to the Frontline broadcast and featured scholars' presentations, workshops and audience discussion.

The Jesus Seminar

The Jesus Seminar was organized under the auspices of the Westar Institute to renew the quest of the historical Jesus and to report the results of its research to more than a handful of gospel specialists. At its inception in 1985, thirty scholars took up the challenge. Eventually more than two hundred professionally trained specialists, called Fellows, joined the group.

The Seminar meets twice a year to debate technical papers that have been prepared and circulated in advance. At the close of debate on each agenda item, Fellows of the Seminar vote, using colored beads to indicate the degree of authenticity of Jesus' words or deeds. Dropping colored beads into a box has become a trademark of the Seminar. The complete results of the Jesus Seminar deliberations on the sayings of Jesus were published in 1993 as "The Five Gospels: The Search for the Authentic Words of Jesus". The complete results of the Jesus Seminar deliberations on the acts of Jesus were published in 1998 as "The Acts of Jesus: The Search for the Authentic Deeds of Jesus". A list of over 100 current Jesus Seminar Scholars, complete with links to biographical information, can be found on the Jesus Seminar Website.

The Shroud of Turin Website

The Shroud of Turin is a centuries old linen cloth that bears the image of a crucified man. A man that millions believe to be Jesus of Nazareth. Is it really the cloth that wrapped his crucified body, or is it simply a medieval forgery, a hoax perpetrated by some clever artist? Modern, twentieth century science has completed hundreds of thousands of hours of detailed study and intense research on the Shroud. It is, in fact, the single most studied artifact in human history, and we know more about it today than we ever have before. Created and maintained by Barrie M. Schwortz, the Official Documenting Photographer for the Shroud of Turin Research Project, Inc., (STURP), this website keeps visitors abreast of current research, provides them with accurate data from the previous research, and allows them interact with the researchers themselves.
