According to Christian scholar and best-selling author Marcus Borg, the average height of a male in ancient Palestine was about 5 feet or 5 feet 1 inch, average weight maybe 110 pounds. Research done on the Shroud of Turin indicates that the man pictured on this burial cloth was 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighed about 178 pounds. The man of the shroud also had recognizable semitic features, including a forked beard, sidelocks and a unplaited ponytail.This section is divided into three sections: 1.
